Sun Bets Review:

Sun Bets is a new British sports betting website that launched on August 2nd, 2016. Australian betting giant Tabcorp and News UK, who own The Sun newspaper, announced their partnership to launch Sun Bets in December 2015. Sun Bets named their business after the newspaper and it has very similar branding. There hasn’t been such an important new entrant for many years, so we thought it would be worthwhile providing a Sun Bets review and highlighting the available Sun Bets promo codes. Sun Bets launched in 2016 after an agreement was made for an initial ten year deal which could potentially be extended depending on the site’s performance.

Under the agreement News UK (a subsidiary of News Corp), who publish The Sun along with The Times and the Sunday Times, are in control of all internal and external marketing of Sun Bets while Tabcorp will operate the wagering side. A revenue share agreement is in place between News UK and Tabcorp.

The UK market is a competitive one which is already congested with a large number of established bookmakers. Unlike other new entrants to the market, Sun Bets will have a distinct advantage because they leverage a household name for their brand. They also benefit from advertising related to The Sun newspaper.

Reputation and Reliability:

When you consider how strong the News UK brand is on the whole you’d expect to be in safe hands. You might love The Sun newspaper and read it every day, or you might not be the biggest fan of The Sun, but you can’t argue that it’s going anywhere and neither is The Times. The Sun itself is one of the most iconic UK institutions. News Corp own News UK as well as the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, FoxTel (an Australian television company) and News Corp Australia (which has a number of publications).

Highly successful businessman Rupert Murdoch is the executive chairman of the overall business which posted $8.6 billion in revenue in 2015.

Tabcorp have been operating since 1994 and run Unikrn and Luxbet as well as a chain of retail outlets in Australia. Sun Bets aren’t going anywhere and are almost certainly the most secure new bookmaker.

Sun Bets – CSGO Betting:

You may already be aware that Tabcorp part-own eSports bookmaker Unikrn. This means you’ll find the same excellent CSGO betting opportunities on Sun Bets as you would on Unikrn. The Sun’s involvement in eSports goes back a number of years. Most prolifically they are the main sponsor of UK tournament organiser Gfinity, having signed a sponsorship deal worth over £1million in April 2015. Sun Bets themselves haven’t announced any plans to get involved in eSports but both its owners are big eSports’ supporters.

With Sun Bets being powered by Tabcorp and looking to establish itself as you a major bookmaker, you would expect most of the usual preferred payment methods to be available. Right now, customers can only use credit and debit cards. We expect that they will introduce e-wallets such as PayPal, Skrill and Neteller soon.

Website & Betting Options:

Sun Bets’ website offers pretty much everything you’d expect from a top tier bookmaker: accumulators, cash out, the works. By default you will see fractional odds, but you can change this. Just go to “my account” then “preferences” and you can change to decimal odds there.

The website has a slightly different layout to what you might expect, but we love it. On the left hand side there is a menu that has a quick link to Sun Boosts promotions, other promotions, and all the different sports, which are split out into sports, in-play and racing. You can also find the Sun Bets blog and results from all the events that they accept bets on.

In the centre of the website you will see key sports and upcoming events highlighted, as well as a carousel. Their web designers have kept everything very clear and slick. Once you select the odds you want, the betslip will be where you expect, in the top right corner.

Sports Markets:

Sun Bets provides betting on all major sports. British bookmakers are focused on horse racing and football, so Sun Bets will focus on those too. You can take advantage of Sun Bets enhanced odds offers on football for their customers which are called Sun Boosts. Sun Bets are offering best odds guaranteed for horse racing which is necessary for any serious bookmaker.

They are also focusing on politics, novelty and showbiz betting markets because of their close ties to The Sun newspaper, which eSports ties in nicely with.

Other Products:

The Sun already operates Sun Bingo and Sun Play casino. These are separate businesses from Sun Bets. You can play Sun Casino using your Sun Bets account. Sun Casino is part of The Sun’s main betting website and Playtech powers it.

Verdict:

Has there been an exciting launch of a betting brand in recent years? We don’t think so. This should be different. Sun Bets will be looking to establish itself as one of the big boys. With two business heavyweights going into business together to launch this product we know it’ll be awesome for years to come.
